چکیده

Introduction: Arthroscopic Anterior Cruciate Ligament [ACL] reconstruction is very commonly done procedure in recent times {1}. The graft fixation methods vary from aperture fixation [Interference screws] to suspensory fixation methods [Endobutton]. This is a Prospective non randomised clinical study of arthroscopic ACL reconstruction comparing the functional results between aperture fixation and suspensory fixation. Material and methods: Two groups of 10 patients who underwent autogenous hamstring ACL reconstruction with a minimum of 1 year follow up evaluation were included in the study. The aperture fixation group underwent bioabsorbable interference screw fixation at both femoral and tibial tunnels. The suspensory fixation group underwent endobutton fixation on the femoral side and biointerference screw on tibial side. Both group patients were examined prior to surgery and at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. They were compared for functional outcome with Tegner Lysholm knee score. Observation and results: There was significant improvement in functional outcome in both the groups for base and at 3 months, also for 3 months and 6 months but for 6 months to 1 year Group 2 is almost significant. Conclusion: In our prospective study of comparison of functional outcomes between aperture fixation and suspensory fixation on femur in arthroscopic ACL reconstruction which were evaluated by using Tegner Lysholm knee score over a period of 1 year, suspensory fixation was found to be better. However, further long term studies involving large series of cases would throw more light on this information.

Hybrid femoral fixation of soft-tissue grafts in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using the EndoButton CL and bioabsorbable interference screws: a biomechanical study.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of hybrid femoral fixation with bioabsorbable interference screws (BioRCI; Smith & Nephew Endoscopy, Andover, MA) and EndoButton CL (Smith & Nephew Endoscopy) fixation. METHODS Biomechanical testing of 3 different fixation techniques was performed by use of porcine hind-limb distal femurs and mature bovine extremity common extensor ...

Biomechanical Comparison Between Bashti Bone Plug Technique and Biodegradable Screw for Fixation of Grafts in Ligament surgery

Background: Ligament reconstruction is a common procedure in orthopedic surgery. Although several popular techniques are currently in use, new methods are proposed for secure fixation of the tendon graft into the bone tunnel. Purposes: We sought to introduce our new technique of Bashti bone plug for fixation of soft tissue graft in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and to compar...

A Comparison of Functional Outcomes After Metallic and Bioabsorbable Interference Screw Fixations in Arthroscopic ACL Reconstructions.

INTRODUCTION Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is as one of the most frequently injured ligaments in the modern contact sports scenario. Graft fixations can be achieved during anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions by using either bioabsorbable screws or metal screws. The objective of this study was to compare the functional outcomes after bioabsorbable and metallic interference screw ...

Biomechanical analysis of femoral tunnel pull-out angles for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with bioabsorbable and metal interference screws.

BACKGROUND Fixation strength of metal and bioabsorbable interference screws has not been evaluated while varying the anterior cruciate ligament graft tension angle. HYPOTHESIS There is no difference in fixation strength between 2 types of interference screws for anterior cruciate ligament graft fixation while the graft tension angle is varied relative to the femoral tunnel. STUDY DESIGN Con...
